Industry Insider: Less Unfair Competition, More Technical Exchanges Among Peers

Created on 06.27
People in our abrasive industry are really open-minded.
I once posted a video testing the wear rate of grinding wheels. Take a look at the comments. Lots of industry peers gathered there to exchange technical ideas.
One comment said the wheel was too hard, cutting steel continuously for ten minutes. Everyone kept discussing with each other.
In many industries, competitors always attack and undermine one another. It’s such a relief to see our industry maintain such a friendly communication atmosphere.
Something happened to me not long ago. A well-known brand representative saw my video and called me, asking me to take the video down.
At that time, I just stood in the buyer’s position. I only filmed the test and recorded experimental data as my client requested. We always benchmark leading brands, and I was just learning while making videos.
Most senior practitioners in this field are reasonable and won’t be hostile without reason.
We had a disagreement during the phone call. I asked him what would happen if I kept the video online. That made him upset, and our conversation turned awkward.
After calming down, I reflected on this matter. I never intended to compete against or belittle any competitor.
Our original goal is to show professional test data of our products, so that buyers can recognize us as a trustworthy manufacturer.
