Got your depressed-center grinding disc installed wrong all the time? Today I'll walk you through the standard installation procedure for depressed-center grinding discs to eliminate safety hazards!
Step 1: Cut off the power! Always disconnect power before replacing any disc to prevent accidental startup. Safety comes first.
Step 2: Clean the flange contact surface of the tool head. Uneven contact surfaces or trapped debris will cause eccentricity, vibration and even disc rupture when the grinding disc spins at high speed.
Step 3: Distinguish the front and back sides of the depressed-center disc! The curved, raised depressed-center side faces outwards. Many people fit it backwards, resulting in grinding vibration, uneven grinding surfaces and a high risk of disc breakage.
Step 4: Align and fit onto the spindle. Lay it completely flat and press firmly against the flange.
Step 5: Fit the washer and tighten the lock nut. Important: Do NOT over-tighten with excessive force!
Over-tightening compresses the disc body, which can easily rupture under high-temperature working conditions.
Step 6: Do not power on immediately! Rotate the disc by hand and check carefully for jamming, eccentricity or wobble.
Final step: Run it on no-load for 3 seconds. The installation is qualified only if there is no abnormal noise, vibration or wobble. You may start official grinding work afterwards.
